Scientific Games (SG) has a new senior vice president for its Americas operations.

The company announced Monday that Mike Cardell is its new SVP of Americas Systems. Cardell will head SG’s Americas lottery system business and will be responsible for growing profits through various means, including:

  • Driving incremental revenue
  • Expanding product offerings
  • Nurturing existing client relationships

The news is the most recent instance of expansion for SG, which already holds about 70% of the global market for instant lottery games.

Cardell highly qualified for new Scientific Games role

Cardell has an impressive resume with more than 17 years of business technology experience. He most recently worked at Fiserv, where he held two top roles at the end of his 11-year tenure:

  • Vice president of global fintech and Fiserv’s payments company
  • General manager of Next Gen Solutions: Signature and Cloud Solutions

With Next Gen Solutions, Cardell spearheaded modernizing the company’s account processing software to cloud-based solutions

He is lauded for shaping the industry and innovating multiple business technology products, such as:

  • Transaction processing platforms
  • Enterprise and consumer-facing applications
  • Large-scale IT conversions

Before Fiserv, Cardell worked for Hewlett-Packard for five years. He ascended the ladder and managed the company’s business development and marketing during that time.

SG Americas president endorses Cardell appointment

Cardell’s nomination has earned praise from his peers, most notably John Schulz, President of Americas & Global Instant Products at SG. Schulz said:

“With a keen understanding of developing strategies for sustainable growth, Mike will be instrumental in growing our systems business and ensuring innovation and operational excellence in our existing system operations. His strategic mindset and leadership experience make him a valuable addition to Scientific Games. We are excited to welcome him to our team.”

Scientific Games commits to growth

SG has maintained its role as a lottery pioneer throughout its history, which dates back to 1974. Its reputation comes from 50 years of growth and innovation, with people like Cardell leading the way through the past and into the future.

The company has also grown in several other ways lately. Last month, it partnered with Bulgaria-based 7777 gaming, welcoming it as the ninth iLottery studio partner for its SG Content Hub Partner Program.

In April, it also released new, high-definition and environmentally-friendly technology that it will use to produce instant lottery games at its facilities worldwide. The technology creates more flexibility for government-run lotteries to produce games. In turn, those tailored games can improve the gameplay experience for players.

SG provides digital and retail lottery products, services, and technology to 150 lotteries in 50 countries worldwide. It also serves 40 US jurisdictions.
