People who play on Lotto.com hope to hit it big with the right number. Well, the nation’s first online lottery platform just hit a big number of its own.

Lotto.com, which lets players purchase tickets online for a variety of contests, including lottery draw games such as PowerBall and Mega Millions and digital scratch-off tickets, has now attracted more than two million customers.

The New Jersey-based company just reached its one-millionth customer less than a year ago and is continuing its rapid growth.

Thomas Metzger, CEO of Lotto.com Inc., said in a news release:

“It’s an incredible milestone for us, reaching two million customers with our accessible and convenient way to order lottery tickets. We are especially proud to expand our customer base, knowing this increases the incremental funds that our platform brings to the good causes that state lotteries support. It took us over two years to reach the one million customer milestone, and less than one year after that to hit the two million customer milestone, so our growth is accelerating tremendously!”

Lotto.com is currently available in 10 states

The two-million customer mark is especially impressive considering the Lotto.com service is only available in ten states, some of which have been recent additions.

Transactions can be made on phones, tablets, laptops, or desktops in the following states:

  • Arizona
  • Arkansas
  • Colorado
  • Minnesota
  • Nebraska
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Ohio
  • Oregon
  • Texas

Lotto.com launched in Nebraska in early April and expanded into Arizona just last month. The company also made headlines in New Jersey this spring with jackpot wins of $525,000 and $208,940 purchased on Lotto.com.

In all, there are 45 states in the country running some form of lottery. It’s likely additional states will be added to the Lotto.com platform in the near future.

Online lottery is growing in the United States and across the world

The growth of Lotto.com also serves as evidence to the popularity of online or digital lottery options.

According to an article from BusinessWire, the global online lottery market is expected to reach $14.47 billion by 2027 with a compound annual growth rate above 7%.

That growth is fueled by a number of factors, including improved technology and increased Internet access.

The Pennsylvania online lottery, in particular, has seen some of those positive trends.

In the 2022-23 fiscal year, the state’s online eInstant play increased by about $126 million, which represented a 16.8 percent jump from the previous fiscal year. It was the second-best sales year ever for online eInstant sales.

Furthermore, PA online draw game ticket sales totaled $50.1 million in the 2022-23 fiscal year, an increase of $22.4 million overall (or 81 percent) from the prior year.

Taken all together, the evidence is clear.

The future seems bright for both Lotto.com and the online lottery market.
