The Pennsylvania Lottery is continuing to see growth in online sales.

Last week, the state provided final fiscal year 2023-24 data. While overall traditional lottery sales dropped from $4.98 billion to $4.79 billion, PA iLottery sales grew from $922.7 million to $1.04 billion.

This marks the first time online lottery sales in Pennsylvania exceeded the $1 billion milestone.

PA iLottery up nearly 9% year over year

The Pennsylvania Lottery isn’t new to growing online sales.

Since launching in May 2018, the PA online lottery has kept making strides.

FY23-24 brought the success to new heights, according to the state lottery.

Online games, which include both draw games and eInstants, generated $1.04 billion. That was an 8.8% jump up from FY22-23, which did $922.7 million in sales.

It was the instant games that produced most of the sales for Pennsylvania.

The product had $975.8 million in sales. That was up nearly 12% from a year ago ($872.5 million), with over $103 million more in sales.

Draw sales made up $62.9 million of the online purchases, a $12.7 million improvement from a year ago. That equates to a 25.4% increase.

The Pennsylvania Lottery offers hundreds of online options for customers. Recently, it came to an agreement to launch EZ eInstant games through Instant Win Gaming. IWG also just had 70% of its business acquired by Allwyn.

Overall lottery sales fall 4% in Pennsylvania

While the online sales numbers were positive, the rest of the year-end results weren’t as encouraging for Pennsylvania.

Overall traditional sales dropped almost 4%, going from $4.98 billion to $4.79 billion.

Scratch sales took a big drop, falling from $3.3 billion to $3.1 billion. That was a decline of 7.3%. The scratch product accounted for 65% of total lottery sales for the year.

Draw games were up slightly, growing by $29 million overall but staying at $1.4 billion, the same as the year prior.

Monitor games also took a slight dip, declining by $1 million to $49.7 million in FY23-24.

Despite overall sales reducing, Pennsylvania was able to generate $1.22 billion for senior programs in the state.

That was up 11% from the $1.1 billion the state provided a year prior.

This marks the 13th consecutive year that the state lottery has produced over $1 billion for senior programs.

The record total for funding was more than $1.3 billion in FY20-21.
