Minnesota may not have an online lottery, but the state did launch its mobile app recently.

The official mobile lottery app of the state gives customers exclusive new features.

The Minnesota Lottery app is available for iPhone and Android. It provides users with a more interactive experience while playing.

Features the Minnesota Lottery app includes

The Minnesota Lottery mobile app will offer some unique tools:

  • Ticket scanner: Players can scan their tickets for scratch or lottery draw games from their phone to see if they have won. The scanning function won’t be available from midnight to 5 a.m. each day.
  • Second-chance drawings: Even if you have a losing ticket, you can enter second-chance drawings through the app to have an opportunity to win other prizes.
  • Digital play slips: Create the numbers you want to play on your retail tickets and present the slip to a retailer to print your tickets.
  • Notifications: Receive alerts when jackpots hit a certain level.
  • Retailer map: Find your way to the nearest lottery retailer.

Minnesota offers three different lottery couriers

Minnesota is not among the states with online lotteries.

However, customers can still make online purchases of retail tickets through lottery couriers. Currently, three different couriers are available in the state.

Jackpocket, Lotto.com, and TheLotter.com are options for Minnesota Lottery players.

Minnesota is just one of four states currently using TheLotter, while Jackpocket is available in 17 different states, as well as Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico.

No signs of Minnesota iLottery expansion

Though Minnesota has couriers and now a mobile app, there are no indications of an online lottery in the state.

Some state representatives have pledged to expand gambling, but the direction appears more driven by sports betting.

The state legislators were unable to pass the measure this year, but it could be revisited next year.

However, discussions of an online lottery have not picked up steam in Minnesota.

With the progression of courier services and the launch of the lottery app, the door to iLottery seems to be opening a bit.
