Mississippi is launching Lotto America on May 12 with a jackpot starting at $2 million. The game, one of the more popular draw lottery games in the US, debuts next month with a progressive jackpot and tickets for $1 per entry.
Lotto America’s first Mississippi-eligible drawing will occur on Monday, May 13, one day after sales begin.
Mississippi Lottery President Jeff Hewitt said:
“Lotto America is popular in many other states. As we noted player feedback, many players mentioned offering a draw-style game with a jackpot in between Match 5 and Powerball or Mega Millions. Lotto America is the perfect addition to our portfolio.”
How to play Lotto America
Lotto America offers nine ways to win and a smaller field of numbers than most other multi-state draw games. In Lotto America, players choose five numbers from 1 to 52 and a single Star Ball numbered from 1 to 10. Players receive prizes for matching some or all of the numbers, with players who match every number winning the progressive jackpot. Prizes start at $2 and range up to the jackpot.
If you don’t want to pick your numbers manually, Lotto America offers a Quick Pick option that will auto-select numbers for your entry.
Many draw games offer multiplier add-ons, and Lotto America follows that trend. The All-Star Bonus costs $1 more per entry. It multiplies all non-jackpot prizes by 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x for maximum wins of up to $100,000.
EZ Match is a separate add-on, and it also costs $1 per entry. Matching your randomly assigned EZ Match numbers to the Lotto America numbers will win you an instant prize of up to $500. EZ Match tickets are still good for the full Lotto America drawing.
The overall odds of winning any prize in Lotto America are 1 in 9.63.
