International Game Technology (IGT) and the Mississippi Lottery will continue to do business together for three more years.

IGT announced on Tuesday that it extended its contract to provide lottery technology, including gaming systems and instant ticket services in the state. The deal initially ran through 2026 and will now stay in effect through Dec. 1, 2029.

New mobile app and self-service terminals part of the IGT contract

IGT has the most prominent global lottery market share, providing tech to 26 of 46 US lotteries and the majority of the world’s largest lotteries. Although Mississippi is not on the list of states with online lotteries, it will benefit from several of IGT’s online and mobile-based services.

The contract confirms that IGT’s mobile app, new GameTouch 28 self-service terminals, and Sales Wizard retail automation tool will soon launch. As a result, players will enjoy an upgraded experience and increased access to lottery draw games and instant win games

The new app will allow players to:

  • View winning numbers
  • Check for winning tickets
  • Create digital playslips for retail lottery games
  • Find Mississippi Lottery retailers
  • Access game information
  • Review responsible gaming materials

Mississippi Lottery continues long-term partnership

The Mississippi Lottery has worked with IGT since it first launched in 2019. Its President, Jeff Hewitt, recognized IGT’s role in its past and future success and growth. Hewitt said in a press release:

“After almost five very successful years, we continue working with IGT to enhance our operations and deliver quality entertainment to our players. The Mississippi Lottery is excited to introduce IGT’s new products for added player convenience and install the Sales Wizard tool so that we can leverage actionable insights to identify incremental lottery retail opportunities.”

Jay Gendron, IGT’s Chief Operating Officer, echoed the positive relationship:

“Since the Mississippi Lottery’s inception, IGT has applied our deeply rooted proficiency of industry best practices to help the Lottery continuously exceed its sales objectives, year after year. The new solutions that IGT is delivering in Mississippi will provide ultimate convenience for both the Lottery and its players, while also supporting the needs of the evolving lottery landscape.”

IGT-MS Lottery agreement benefits education, too

While the contract extension confirms business success, IGT and the Mississippi Lottery are also committed to improving education opportunities for the state’s youth and young adults.

IGT’s After School Advantage program, a community-based initiative, has funded six digital technology labs in Mississippi since 2019 and plans to open more in the coming years.

It offers annual scholarships for Mississippi students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), as well.
