After weeks of a soft launch, the Connecticut Lottery was cleared for a full launch of its iLottery on Monday.
Connecticut joins the list of states with online lotteries, offering eight different games through its website and mobile lottery app.
With the addition of Connecticut, 11 states now provide state-run online lottery sales in the US.
A total of 8 CT Lottery games currently available online
Working through a partnership with IGT, Connecticut had a soft launch of its iLottery beginning on June 10.
While original plans expected an official launch about a week later, the state finally just got clearance from the CT Department of Consumer Protection.
With the soft launch period over, Connecticut will no longer have a cap on how many users it can sign up.
Greg Smith, President and CEO of the Connecticut Lottery, expressed his excitement in a release provided to PlayiLottery:
“iLottery gives Connecticut residents a convenient and secure way to play lottery games, whether choosing the every-four-minutes speed of KENO, the huge, life changing jackpots available through Powerball and Mega Millions, or the twice-a-day Play3 & Play4. In addition to our 2,800 retailer locations, iLottery allows you to pretty much play anytime and anywhere you are. Lottery scratch tickets are only available in retail so be sure to shop retail too.”
The following lottery draw games are available online in Connecticut:
- KENO
- Powerball
- Mega Millions
- Lucky for Life
- Lotto
- Cash5
- Play 3
- Play 4
The CT Lottery website indicated that more than 10,000 wagers were placed during the opening week of the soft launch. It also states that iLottery will only be available between 5 a.m. and 2 a.m. each day.
How to play the Connecticut iLottery
Those interested in partaking in online play can visit ctilottery.org or download the online lottery app for the state.
Currently, the Connecticut Lottery app is available only for iOS. An Android version is expected next month.
Players can customize their experience on the platform by saving favorite numbers and wagers, while also grouping preferred games for easy purchase. There is a ticket scanner feature available, as well.
The app also highlights responsible gaming options. You can set limits for wagering and time spent on the app.
You must be 18 years or older to use the CT Lottery app.
Players can deposit funds using debit cards, credit cards, or a bank account. Winnings of $599 or less will be deposited directly into a player’s account. Winnings of $600 or more will require a visit to the state lottery headquarters in Wallingford.
