Connecticut iLottery Delayed Again, Expected To Launch In ‘3-4 Weeks’

The Connecticut online lottery is still going to be a few weeks away.

Though the Connecticut Lottery Corporation targeted a mid-May launch, that target date won’t be met.

Instead, look for June to be the month where Connecticut gets added to the states with online lotteries.

The state lottery confirmed with PlayiLottery on Monday that they were still working on an official launch date.

“We are getting very close – I would say 3-4 weeks.”

IGT still meeting requirements for iLottery launch

During April’s Connecticut Lottery Corporation board meeting, multiple references were made to a mid-May target for its iLottery launch.

Connecticut Lottery CEO Greg Smith indicated the state was still waiting on launching requirements to be met by online partner International Game Technology (IGT). Despite that, he remained hopeful for the mid-May deadline.

Legislation for online lottery actually was passed by lawmakers in 2021.

The bill authorized the state to conduct online sales of lottery draw games as well as Keno.

IGT was the announced partner to bring iLottery to Connecticut. The two agreed on an eight-year deal in May of 2023. The contract could be extended up to four years.

What games will Connecticut iLottery offer?

IGT is the partner for the Connecticut retail lottery, as well as the online lottery.

The company is set to deploy its iLottery gaming system and related components to enable the CLC to see lottery tickets through its website and online lottery app.

Once regulations are met and iLottery goes live in Connecticut, the following games are expected to be available.

  • Keno
  • Mega Millions
  • Powerball
  • Lotto!
  • Lucky for Life
  • Cash5
  • Play3 with Wild Ball
  • Play4 with Wild Ball

When IGT signed on as the online partner, Connecticut targeted a fall 2023 launch. The mid-May target is the latest one to get pushed back. However, it seems the state is getting very close to online availability.
