Get to know Dan Holmes
Dan has covered the lottery and gambling industries in Canada as well numerous states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia. He’s written about numerous sports extensively — baseball, basketball, hockey, football, golf, boxing, the Olympics, volleyball, to name a few.
Dan has been writing online content since 1993, when he built his first website. He previously launched AskTheBaseballExpert and The Baseball Page, both of which gathered followers in the 1990s before they were purchased by other media sites.
Prior to working for Catena, Dan was the web producer for the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum and a producer and writer for Major League Baseball Advanced Media, and he operated Boone Digital. He was also previously a senior content marketer for BigWing Interactive, a subsidiary of The Oklahoman.

Holmes is the author of or contributor to three books: Ty Cobb: A Biography (Greenwood Press, 2004); Deadball Stars of the American League (SABR, 2006); and The Great Baseball Argument-Settling Book (Baseball Egg Press, 2015). His next book, Ballplayers, will be published in 2024.
