The Texas Lottery Commission and the Dallas Cowboys NFL team have combined forces to recognize standout health and wellness educators for their innovative approach to student health programs.
The program, named Funds For Fitness, will distribute $60,000 to school educators throughout the state of Texas, where educators are impacting student health through physical education, coaching, mental health, and character leadership.
The program is open to teachers, coaches, counselors, and administrators, who can be nominated for their recognition online at www.dallascowboys.com/fundsforfitness beginning Oct. 10. The Dallas Cowboys will select 12 of the nominated educators and award them $5,000 to support their schools’ continuing health and wellness efforts.
Dallas Cowboys Executive Vice President and Chief Brand Officer Charlotte Jones lauded the program, saying, “The Dallas Cowboys are excited to partner with the Texas Lottery to offer this reimagined Funds for Fitness program to the public schools across Texas. Through this partnership, we will not only have the opportunity to provide teachers additional resources to influence the physical and mental well-being of their students, but also recognize these educators for the hard work and dedication they demonstrate on a daily basis.”
Texas Lottery executive director Gary Grief expressed as much appreciation to be a part of the program as his Cowboys organization counterpart Jones, stating, “The Texas Lottery is proud to continue partnering with the Cowboys on this initiative that aligns with our mission to support public education in Texas. These teachers do so much for Texas public schools to enhance student health and wellness, and we are honored to highlight their efforts.”
About the Nomination Process
To complete a nomination on behalf of an educator or administrator to the Funds for Fitness program, nominators must detail why their selected educators deserve recognition and describe the impact of their work on students’ health. Supporting materials, such as videos and photographs, are included as part of the nomination process. All Texas public school educators are eligible, with the exception of schools located within a 75-mile radius of Houston. This is due to National Football League market radius restrictions, which span the Houston direct outreach area. Complete details of the Funds for Fitness program eligibility, rules, and requirements can be found at: www.dallascowboys.com/fundsforfitness.
